Fit a tray to a measured drawer

Measure usable drawer space rather than the nominal drawer size. This reference model does not claim that every label or divider arrangement has been physically printed.

Fit a tray to a measured drawer
Use the table and source file as the current geometry record; measure your own counterpart before making a functional part.

Files

Open the SCAD workspace, upload model.scad as the main source, change a parameter and compile. Compare the dimensions, then download the STL from that successful build.

Geometry evidence

Model file bounds, including any arranged parts: 120 × 80 × 25 mm.

A displayed model and its dimensions are geometry evidence, not proof of physical fit, strength, electrical clearance, or print success.

Build measurements (JSON)

Record the usable interior

Measure width, depth, height, obstructions, and the access clearance needed to remove the tray. Keep the internal compartment plan separate from the outer envelope.

Revise a controlled dimension

Change tray length or compartment layout through source parameters while preserving wall thickness where the model provides it. Recheck the rebuilt result before printing.

Questions this page answers

Can I make a box with an exact internal size?

Start from the required inside dimensions and derive the outer size from wall thickness. Verify the generated values and allow for your printing process.

How do I fit a tray to a drawer and divide the compartments?

Measure usable drawer space, then plan divider positions from the same datum. Test the outer fit before committing to a large multi-compartment print.

Can I change a box length while keeping wall thickness?

Yes when length and wall thickness are independent source parameters. Inspect the rebuilt dimensions rather than scaling the finished mesh.

Can I add a label to a lid without changing its fit?

Treat label geometry and mating surfaces as separate features. Check the updated lid thickness and clearance; a label can still affect a nearby fit if it overlaps the interface.
